7-10-24   THOUGHTS

In yesterday’s post, we looked at God talking to Job to settle His power in Job’s mind.    In a different time and place, we see the power of our God in the person of Jesus.  The disciples knew Jesus.  They had faith to follow him.  But I think of Eph 3:19   “and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”  They didn’t know enough at this time.  Jesus said to them “Do you still have no faith?"   Surely they needed THIS lesson from God!  We need to be aware that there’s  MORE OF GOD FOR US TO KNOW!  This awareness drives the DESIRE TO KNOW!  We must not be content with crumbs.  God waits TO BLESS US WITH HIMSELF!  GOD’S WORD IS HIS MIND!  It is “living and active” the Hebrew writer says.  Heb 4:12   Their fear of the storm was converted to a heathy fear of the power of God in Jesus.  Faith was stronger.

Mark 4:35-41   On that day, when evening came, He said to them, "Let us go over to the other side."  36  Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. 37  And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. 38  Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke  Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" 39  And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. 40  And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?" 41  They became very much afraid and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"

My Prayer:
Father, increase our faith.  Open our hearts to see “You fully.”  May we long for the Holy Eternal to absorb our hearts and help us to abide in Your presence.  Break the cycle of contentment and complacency in our lives and give us the power of Your Spirit to live life.  May we desire to know You with all of our hearts.               In Jesus’ name,     Amen.
